CAT 2026 Registration Begins August 3: Check Eligibility Criteria and Exam Date

The Indian Institutes of Management will begin registrations for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2026 on August 3, 2026. The entrance examination is scheduled to be conducted on November 29, 2026, across three sessions. Eligible candidates will be able to submit their applications through the official CAT website.

CAT is conducted for admission to postgraduate management programmes offered by the IIMs and several other participating business schools across India.

Who Is Eligible for CAT 2026?

Candidates MUST hold a recognised bachelor’s degree with at least:

  • 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA for General, EWS and NC-OBC candidates

  • 45% marks or an equivalent CGPA for SC, ST and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities candidates

Candidates with professional qualifications such as CA, CS, CMA or FIAI may also apply, provided they meet the required marks criteria.

Can Final-Year Students Apply?

YES. Students appearing for the final year of their bachelor’s degree and candidates awaiting their results are also eligible to apply.

However, candidates who are selected may initially receive provisional admission. They will be required to submit a certificate from their university or institution confirming that they have completed all requirements for obtaining their bachelor’s degree within the deadline specified by the respective IIM.
