CLAT 2026 General Category Cutoffs — All 26 NLUs
The lowest General-category AIR that secured a seat at each NLU across all its programmes, based on the final (Round 5) 2026 seat allotment. OBC, SC, ST, EWS and PwD cutoffs are considerably more relaxed — use the predictor above with your actual category for an exact match.

Understanding CLAT Reservation Categories
The category and section you select changes which NLU seats are within reach. Here's what each means.
How CLAT NLU Counselling Rounds Work
NLU seat allotment for CLAT runs across up to 5 rounds, with cutoffs shifting slightly each time as candidates upgrade or withdraw.
Initial allotment based on preference order and AIR. Highest movement between NLUs.
Vacancies from upgrades and withdrawals reallot. Cutoffs typically tighten slightly for top NLUs.
Further consolidation. Most candidates lock their final NLU by this round.
Fewer seat movements — mainly last-minute withdrawals and category-wise vacancies.
Final round before the counselling window closes. Cutoffs are near-final for the year.
* Use the Round filter on the predictor to compare how the cutoff for any NLU-category combination moved across the 2026 counselling cycle.
How to Build Your NLU Preference List — 5 Rules
A clear framework to make the most of your CLAT AIR before locking your NLU preferences.
Rank Every NLU You'd Actually Join
CLAT counselling allots seats strictly by your preference order and AIR. Never leave an NLU you'd accept off your list — an unranked seat can't be allotted to you even if your rank qualifies.
The Top 5 Are a Different League
NLSIU, NALSAR, WBNUJS, NLU Jodhpur and GNLU consistently post the strongest placement and moot court outcomes. If any is in your Safe or Moderate zone, prioritise it over a 'bigger name, older college' further down the list.
Category Determines Everything
SC, ST, OBC and EWS candidates can access NLUs several times more competitive than their General peers at the same AIR. Always filter by your actual category, never General.
Check Domicile Quotas Too
If you're a resident of an NLU's home state, its state-quota category (e.g. 'General Category of Karnataka') can have a meaningfully lower cutoff than the all-India pool for the same NLU.
Track Moderate Zone Across Rounds
Cutoffs shift by a few hundred ranks between rounds. NLUs in the Moderate zone (AIR within 15% of cutoff) are worth keeping in your list — especially for rounds 3-5 as upgrades free up seats.

A cutoff table can't tell you about moot court culture, hostel life, faculty quality, or which specialisation track is actually worth it. Download InsideEdge and ask an NLU student directly.
Every Law Entrance Exam in India — UG & LL.M.
CLAT isn't the only route into a law degree. Here's a free, no-login-required directory of national, state, private and postgraduate law entrance exams — pattern, eligibility and accepting colleges for each.
Application windows, fees and exam patterns are revised almost every year by each conducting body, and several state exams rotate their host university annually. The details below reflect the typical/most recently known pattern for each exam — cards marked “Could not fully verify”flag information I'm not confident about rather than guessing. Always confirm current-cycle dates, fees and syllabus on the exam's own official website before applying.
NLU Fee Structure — What to Expect
NLU fees vary by university and are revised most years. These are broad, indicative bands to help you plan — always confirm with the specific NLU's official fee notification before counselling.
Annual Tuition + Hostel (Typical)
₹2.5 – 3.5 L / yr
Varies by NLU; older/top-ranked NLUs often charge more
Approx. 5-Year UG Total
₹12 – 18 L
Tuition + hostel + mess across the full programme
Fee Waivers
Available
Most NLUs offer need/merit-based waivers — check each university's site
Figures above are broad, indicative ranges based on typical NLU fee patterns — not per-college exact numbers. Every NLU sets and revises its own fee structure independently; verify the current year's notification on the specific university's official website before making a decision.

Important: Based on CLAT 2026 consortium seat allotment data
Cutoffs are sourced from the official Consortium of National Law Universities allotment lists and can shift slightly year to year based on difficulty and applicant volume. This predictor is a decision-support tool, not a guarantee of admission — always cross-check with the official CLAT consortium website before finalising your preferences.
