Category & Pool Guide

How Category and Domicile Change Your List

The category and seat pool you select decide which closing percentile you're measured against. Here's what each means.

Counselling Process

How MH CET Law CAP Counselling Works

After the result, the CET Cell runs a Centralised Admission Process. You fill one preference form; seats are allotted by percentile, category and pool across successive rounds.

Round 1

First allotment on your preference order and percentile. Highest cutoffs — top colleges fill fast.

Round 2

Vacancies from non-reporting and upward movement reallot. Cutoffs ease slightly.

Round 3

Final CAP round. Most remaining government/aided seats are allotted here.

Round IL

Institutional-level round — colleges fill leftover seats directly against merit.

* This predictor uses the latest available closing percentiles. Treat Moderate colleges as realistic Round 2–3 targets.

Strategy Guide

Building Your CAP Preference Form — 6 Rules

A clear framework to convert your percentile into the right preference order before the CET Cell window closes.

01

List Every College You'd Join

CAP allots strictly by preference order and percentile. An option you leave off the form can never be allotted to you, even if your percentile clears it.

02

Set the Right Seat Pool

Maharashtra vs all-India is the biggest single factor. Predict with the pool that matches your domicile — the cutoffs are genuinely different.

03

Order by Preference, Not by Cutoff

Put the college you most want first, even if it's a stretch. The algorithm protects you — a higher choice is only given if you clear it, otherwise it moves down your list.

04

Anchor With Safe Options

Keep several Safe colleges lower on your form as a floor, so a bad round can't leave you unallotted.

05

Get Your Documents Validated Early

Caste validity, non-creamy-layer, domicile and EWS certificates in the wrong year or format are the top reason confirmed seats are lost at CAP verification.

06

Talk to Current Students

A cutoff can't tell you about faculty, the moot and CCI scene, firm internships in Mumbai/Pune, or the daily commute. Download InsideEdge and ask someone who's there.

Beyond CLAT

Every Law Entrance Exam in India — UG & LL.M.

CLAT isn't the only route into a law degree. Here's a free, no-login-required directory of national, state, private and postgraduate law entrance exams — pattern, eligibility and accepting colleges for each.

Application windows, fees and exam patterns are revised almost every year by each conducting body, and several state exams rotate their host university annually. The details below reflect the typical/most recently known pattern for each exam — cards marked “Could not fully verify”flag information I'm not confident about rather than guessing. Always confirm current-cycle dates, fees and syllabus on the exam's own official website before applying.

Fee & ROI

MH CET Law College Fees — What to Expect

Indicative bands to help you plan. Government and aided colleges are far cheaper than unaided private ones — always confirm the current fee on the college's CAP fee notification.

State freeships and fee reimbursement for eligible categories

Figures above are broad, indicative ranges — not per-college exact numbers. Each college's fee is fixed by the Fee Regulating Authority (FRA) and revised most years; verify the current CAP fee notification before locking your preference form.

MH CET Law Predictor — Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about MH CET Law cutoffs, percentile, CAP counselling, seat pools and reservation.

Important: 2026 estimate, based on the latest reported cutoffs

Closing percentiles are compiled from the most recent reported and expected MH CET Law cutoffs (source: Shiksha) for CAP counselling. Actual cutoffs move with paper difficulty, applicant numbers, seat-matrix changes and CAP round, so this predictor is a decision-support estimate, not a guarantee of admission. Always cross-check the official allotment data on the Maharashtra CET Cell portal, cetcell.mahacet.org, before finalising your preference form.
