How CUET Scoring Works

CUET uses a normalized NTA Score (0–800), not raw marks — here's the full picture.

Step 01

Attempt the Exam

Section II (Domain Subjects): 50 questions, attempt 40 in 45 min. Scoring: +5 for correct, −1 for wrong. Max raw score = 200 per subject. Section III (General Test): 75 questions, attempt 60 in 60 min.

Step 02

Raw Score Calculation

Example: 35 correct, 5 wrong → (35×5) − (5×1) = 170 raw marks. Unattempted questions get 0. Choose your best 40 questions — negative marking means quality beats quantity.

Step 03

NTA Score Normalization

Raw scores are equated across exam shifts using the percentile equating method. A 170 raw score may become 680–720 NTA Score depending on shift difficulty. This ensures fairness across shifts.

Step 04

University Admission

Universities create merit lists using CUET NTA Scores. DU uses CSAS (Common Seat Allocation System). Each university has its own formula — usually 2–3 domain subjects + General Test weighted sum.

Raw Marks vs NTA Score: Do not confuse your raw marks with NTA Score. Enter your official NTA Score from your CUET result card (scorecard) — not raw marks. NTA Scores are released at cuet.nta.nic.in after normalization.

CUET Rank Predictor — FAQ 2027

Everything about CUET 2027 — scoring, college selection, DU admissions, and preparation.

For top DU colleges like SRCC and Hindu (Premier tier), you need 730–780+ for General category. For good DU colleges (Ramjas, Hansraj), 700–730 is competitive. Mid-tier DU colleges like Kirori Mal and Dyal Singh accept 660–700+. Aim for 700+ for a strong DU admission chance.

SRCC is the most competitive DU college. B.Com (Hons.) cutoff is ~780+ for General. B.A. Economics cutoff is ~760+ for General. OBC students need ~750+ (B.Com) and ~730+ (Eco). SC students need ~720+ and ST students ~700+. These are 2024 Round 1 indicative cutoffs.

CUET is conducted in multiple shifts with varying difficulty. Raw marks from different shifts are equated (normalized) to produce the NTA Score (0–800). Two students scoring identically on different difficulty shifts get comparable NTA Scores. Always report your NTA Score from the official CUET result, not your raw marks.

Yes — one CUET score is valid for all 260+ participating universities including all 45 Central Universities (mandatory), many state universities, deemed universities, and private colleges. Apply separately to each university — DU uses the CSAS portal, while BHU, JNU, UoH and others have their own portals.

Class 12 marks are used only for eligibility, not for admission merit. You must pass Class 12 with required subjects and minimum marks (usually 45–50% for General). Your CUET NTA Score alone determines your admission rank — a student with 75% in Class 12 can beat a 95% student if they score higher in CUET.

Choose domain subjects based on your target course. For B.Com/Economics: Mathematics or Applied Mathematics + any two. For Sciences: choose Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Maths as needed. For Humanities: Political Science, History, Geography, Sociology etc. Check each university's specific subject requirements — they vary.

CUET 2027 registration fee (expected): General/EWS — ₹1,000 for up to 3 subjects; SC/ST/PwD — ₹500. Additional subjects cost extra (~₹200 per subject). The total fee depends on the number of subjects chosen. Check cuet.samarth.ac.in for the official fee structure when registration opens in Feb 2027.

CUET has no attempt limit — you can appear every year. Since CUET was introduced in 2022, you can appear in 2027, 2028, and beyond. Your CUET score is valid only for the year of the exam — there is no carry-forward of scores from previous years.

CUET domain subjects follow NCERT Class 12 syllabus strictly, but the exam tests application, speed, and accuracy under time pressure (40 questions in 45 minutes with negative marking). The competitive aspect is intense — 15+ lakh students compete for limited seats. Students who revise NCERT thoroughly and practice CUET mock tests find it manageable.

JNU accepts CUET for its BA Programme and Social Sciences courses. Approximate CUET cutoffs for JNU 2024: 650–780+ for General category depending on the program. JNU has limited seats (2,500+) but also has its own eligibility criteria — check jnuee.jnu.ac.in for specific program requirements.
