The Indian Army has introduced a paid internship programme for journalism and mass communication students, offering them an opportunity to gain practical experience in strategic communication, digital storytelling and public engagement.
The internship is being offered through the AICTE Internship Portal under the Indian Army’s Additional Directorate General of Strategic Communication. Applications are open until August 2, 2026.
Who Can Apply?
The programme has been designed specifically for students pursuing a Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communication (BJMC).
Selected students will work on projects related to:
Media and narrative analysis
Behavioural and audience research
Digital content creation
Social media campaign planning
Public affairs and audience engagement
Data-driven communication strategies
The internship also carries 15 academic credits, making it relevant for students whose institutions recognise internship-based academic work.
Internship Duration and Location
The programme will run for a total of 75 working days in a hybrid format:
First 15 working days: Online
Next 60 working days: On-site in Delhi
Candidates selected for the programme will have to arrange their own accommodation in Delhi, as no residential facility will be provided.
Stipend Details
Interns will receive a stipend of ₹30,000 per month, with the total payment reaching up to ₹75,000 after successful completion of the programme.
However, the stipend will be paid only at the end of the internship. Students with less than 75% attendance will not be eligible to receive the stipend.
Working Hours and Dress Code
The internship follows a structured working schedule:
Office hours: 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
Working days: Monday to Saturday
Dress code: Strictly formal
Male interns will be expected to wear formal shirts, trousers and formal shoes. Female interns may wear Indian formal suits or western formal attire.
Smartphones and Laptops Will Be Restricted
Due to operational security requirements, smartphones, laptops and other smart devices will NOT be permitted inside the office premises. Interns will have to deposit these devices at the security gate.
Only basic non-smartphones will be allowed. The organisation will provide workstations with internet access for completing assigned projects. Exceptions for specific project-related devices may be considered during the selection process.
Documents Required
Selected candidates must prepare the following documents before joining:
Degree verification certificate issued by the Head of Department or Registrar
Police verification certificate
Government-issued photo identity proof
Recent passport-size photographs
Students should start arranging these documents early, particularly the institutional and police verification certificates, as they may take time to obtain.
