What is NEST?
NEST is the admission test for the five-year integrated M.Sc programme in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics at the National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar, and the UM-DAE Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (CEBS), Mumbai.
The paper has four subject sections, and only your best three count towards your score. As per recent brochures, admitted students are eligible for the DAE's DISHA scholarship, and graduates can go straight to the BARC Training School interview.

How to Prepare for NEST
Practical, NEST-specific strategy.
- 1Prepare all four subjects well enough to attempt them — your weakest section is dropped, not skipped.
- 2IISER IAT and NEST overlap heavily in syllabus and style, so prepare for both together.
- 3Solve NEST past papers from the official site; they reward understanding over speed.
