How Hotel Management Admissions Work in 2027
Most hotel management aspirants need just one exam. NTA conducts NCHM JEE for the three-year B.Sc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration at Institutes of Hotel Management (IHMs) — 21 central IHMs including Pusa (Delhi), Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata, plus state, PSU and private IHMs affiliated to the National Council for Hotel Management. More than 70 institutes admit through it.
The test is aptitude-based rather than syllabus-based. It covers English, numerical ability, reasoning, general knowledge and an 'Aptitude for Service Sector' section that tests situational judgement. English is the largest section, so strong reading and grammar give you an edge. It's open to students from any stream with English in Class 12.
Registration opens early — in late December in the 2026 cycle — and runs until about 1 April, with the exam in late April. After the result, NCHMCT runs centralised online counselling, where your rank and preferences decide your IHM.
Which Hotel Management Exams Should I Take?
