What is NDA?
The NDA & NA exam is conducted by UPSC twice a year for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, and the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala.
Candidates who clear the written exam go through a five-day Services Selection Board (SSB) interview and a medical examination. The final merit list is based on written + SSB marks.

How to Prepare for NDA
Practical, NDA-specific strategy.
- 1Mathematics is 300 marks with negative marking — accuracy matters more than attempts.
- 2Read a newspaper daily for the GK and current affairs portion.
- 3Start SSB preparation (communication, group tasks, physical fitness) alongside the written exam.
- 4You get two attempts every year — plan for both if you're in Class 12.
